As news reports get passed around, the process of abbreviating / simplifying the story sometimes leads to misunderstandings.  We are honored by the attention our project has recently received; however, it is important to note that this device is in the initial concept development phases and has yet to be rigorously tested.  We believe that this device shows significant potential, but the method still requires more research and testing.  We do not yet have any animal or human data, and are currently working to identify a laboratory that we can collaborate with for testing the effectiveness of the anti-HIV nipple shield.  Until this testing is done, the efficacy of the product is still unknown.  Although we welcome the support that the media has shown us, we do not want to give an impression of false hope as we are still in the initial stages.
